We submitted a Proposal of Application Notice (PoAN) to Aberdeenshire Council in May 2021 for the erection of replacement terraced polytunnels over a 4 ha area of arable land which lies approximately 1km east-southeast of the junction between the B9120 and B966 public roads at Fettercairn. These are required due to the continuing success of the established fruit farming business at this location and will support the growth of our business. Please note that a PoAN commences the formal consultation on the proposal and is not a planning application.
The exhibition boards that would have been on display at this event can now be viewed here.
The proposed polytunnels comprise modular units arranged in terraced rows with a proposed internal gross floorspace of approximately 40,000 sqm.
Existing polytunnels on the farm are deemed to be of inferior structural quality to the proposed model of polytunnels, which offers superior thermal qualities, and which have a more flexible, expandable/reducible design.
Indicative proposed finishes comprise unfinished steel or aluminium framing with white/off-white, translucent, non-reflective cladding.
If consented, the project will go a long way to the continuing success of our business and will allow us to grow in a more sustainable and environmentally friendly way.
